The world of a Growth Mindset, where challenges become opportunities and failures are stepping stones to success.

Carol Dweck came up with Mindset Theory. It's about people having the fixed mindset that they can't be any better than they already are, or a growth mindset which is believing that they can always learn and grow. Which do you associate with?

How to Develop a Growth Mindset: The Key to Personal Development

1. Recognize Fixed Mindset Traps

For myself, thinking that writing and blogging was too much to take on was a fixed mindset. Also, starting a Handyman business was a lot to juggle. (that probably sounds like a lot but its just how I am)

I found that breaking a Goal into Micro-Goals helped; even doing 1 per week.

2. Embrace Challenges

Getting a bunch of things in order was, and (keeping it that way), is difficult. It really helps though. Getting organized took time, but things gradually began to work a little more smoothly.

3. Don't Fear Failure

I was making the mistake of procrastinating; it's common but I didn't settle for it. Now, approaching a problem and taking it on isn't as difficult as before.
Facing something small; just a little bit everyday will make such a big difference for you.

4. Value Effort

Putting in the effort, being determined to create a better life for myself and others hasn't been a dream come true but the effort does pay. Consistently put in the effort, and gains will come.
What area of your life do you want to see an increase?

5. Continue to Learn

Google has free courses to do on your own time. Some of them are 20-40 hrs. The Marketing and Analytics were helpful. I've not had a team starting a business with me, so I've had to do a lot. Tighten up- it's possible to do, you just have to be willing to do the work.
Learning a skill at a time made me realize I'm much more capable than I or others assumed.

6. Cultivate Persistence

By being persistent I've dropped an alcohol addiction and put my kids up. That's the definition of Persistence-
A tried and true strategy: (as in this morning); Coffee and Jesus !!

7. Seek Constructive Feedback

Criticism is worse from myself and a little easier from a friend. Being told and becoming self-aware of the disaster alcohol can put on a man was a catalyst to my persistence.
Using the feedback from a friend or mentor will help with the blindspots that hold us back.

8. Surround Yourself with Growth-Minded People

A man I once knew that shared some wisdom said, "Will, no matter what people tell you: 'Handle Your Business'". He was a security guard, and his name is William.
He was a very positive influence for me. If you're around people right now with no ambition and don't have any aim. Change your environment "Hey You > Handle Your Business!" Choose to not let anyones stuff get in the way.

9. Celebrate Small Wins and the Success of Others

Becoming better at writing and marketing were two wins. Congratulate someone for their success. What wins small or big have you had lately? Count your Blessings ^

10. Practice Self-Reflection and Reframe Negative Beliefs

Reframe the thought of, "Well I can't" into "Why can't I"? Instead of thinking "how can I do it I'm already overwhelmed?", Tell yourself "I'm doing it and having fun", whatever it is. And repeat it, however many times it takes.
Changing my perspective opened New doors, New friends, New skills- New jobs.

11. Own Your Attitude

Owning my wins and learning from failures makes me accountable. You can Re-Shape an attitude. Beginning to see work come in was a win, not being successful all the time was like failing. But you keep on…

12. Set High but Realistic Standards

Creating more content is a goal of mine. It's not easy but it's doable. Breaking down the creation process to certain days and times helps to focus, better prepare and get more done with less strain.

Conclusion

Identify one fixed mindset belief you hold and challenge it. It's not about being perfect, but about making progress consistently. Whether it's overcoming addiction, starting a business, or learning new skills, a growth mindset is the way. Start small, celebrate your wins, and keep pushing forward. – will you take one step today?
